Paris to Lyon via Dijon

Heading to meet our Scenic Spaceship in Lyon we travelled from the Paris de Gare-Lyon train station on the TGV for more than 90 minutes with our fellow guests, to arrive in Dijon for a brief look around.

(It’s such a shame the windows were dirty as the views of the countryside were simply spectacular!)

En route a Canadian couple who we were seated opposite felll in love with a tiger cat that was travelling on a leash within our carriage. It was quite an unusual site to see the owner walking their feline friend around on their lead.

We enjoyed a brisk walk through the lovely old city of Dijon, noting the stunning architecture, the Arch of Triumph in the Square, the church of Notre Dame with the golden owl embedded in the wall as a bringer of good luck and the delightful shops selling produce of the region including of course - mustards!

We enjoyed a warm and homely meal, in a welcoming little restaurant overlooking the town square, complete with carousel - vegetable soup for Kath and a liquid lunch for Jules, with a lovely couple from Buderim in Queensland.

Following our brief diversion to Dijon we boarded a coach for the three hour trip to Lyon to meet the ship which had been docked there waiting for the water levels to fall for the past 2 weeks. It was exciting to finally meet the Scenic Sapphire, after such a long day and greeted by all the staff and a welcoming glass of bubbles, as we were introduced to our tour director Sylvia, ship captains and hotel manager. We are sSO looking forward to the next 14 days!

  2. Everything is so French, Kim! Even when we are travelling on coaches to daytime destinations the scenery is so picturesque and as long as I’m sitting near the front of the coach, and am wearing my wristbands I seem to be ok.
